Where Botox Can Make Facial Lines and Wrinkles Go Away
With expertly placed Botox injections, certain facial lines and wrinkles will relax and soften – and you’ll look younger, better rested, and refreshed.
Here are the areas of the face where Botox can be effective:
Botox for Crow’s Feet
When we repeatedly smile, laugh, or squint, the outer corners of our eyes crinkle, forming what are called crow’s feet. These outward radiating lines – which actually look like bird’s feet – can start to develop when we’re as young as in our twenties.
The “crinkling” occurs because certain muscles around the eye contract with certain facial expressions. Botox is injected into these muscles, which prevents them from tightening. As a result, crow’s feet are far less noticeable, and you look rested and refreshed.
Botox for the Forehead
Forehead wrinkles appear as horizontal lines between the eyebrows and the hairline. Repetitive facial expressions – like raising your eyebrows – can cause these forehead lines to appear.
When Botox is injected into the muscles that contract when we raise our eyebrows, it softens these horizontal wrinkles, making your forehead look smooth and unlined – even when you raise your eyebrows.
Botox for “Bunny Lines” and “Scrunch Lines”
When you scrunch up your face and squint, lines will form near the top and sides of your nose. We refer to the lines on the sides of the nose as “bunny lines,” and those at the top of the nose as “scrunch lines.”
Nearly all of us get these lines as we get older and Botox is a great treatment option. As with other facial lines, Botox is injected into the muscles that control the scrunch and squint movements. As a result, the muscles relax and the appearance of these lines diminishes.
Botox for Frown Lines
Those vertical grooves between our eyebrows are called frown lines. They develop over time as we contract the muscles we use when we frown, squint, or concentrate. As a result, it can look like we’re scowling even when we’re not!
Correcting frown lines is extremely effective with Botox. In fact, it’s the very first application for which Botox was approved, so we have a great deal of experience in this area. When injected into the corrugator muscle (the “frowning muscle”), Botox will reduce or eliminate frown lines, creating a smooth, relaxed-looking brow.
Botox for Lipstick Lines
Lipstick lines – the vertical creases that give the effect of puckering across the top of the upper lip – can also be improved with Botox treatment. Sometimes treatment involves Botox alone or in combination with dermal fillers.
When injected into the muscle that surrounds the mouth, Botox works by minimizing its pursing movement, relaxing the lines and eliminating the appearance of puckering. When used in combination with dermal fillers, Botox can help their effect last longer.
